OUR BIRTH
Fly's 58th day of pregnancy is here and I started to meter her temperature twice a day to know when the delivery will come. On 63rd day in the evening the temperature was still low 36,9°C so we made a trip to visit our friends. Fly was calm during the whole evening and night and her temperature was not below 36,7 °C, also her behaviour did not signalised a coming birth. We got up in the morning, packed our things, sat in the car and...Fly started to take deep breaths. Hurray, the babies are coming! During the day she was resting and respiring. In the evening she stopped to comunicate with us and focused on puppies. At 20:58 came the first baby - tricolour boy with mask on one site and spot around an ear on the other, weight 138g. Second puppy was born 22:14 - again trilocour male with little spot under right eye, weight 147 gr and last puppy was born 23:40 - again boy :D also tricolour with mask on one site and patch over eye on the other, weight 190gr. We checkes Fly's belly after the third puppy and didn't find more, we cleaned up the whelping box, took Fly for a walk and went to bed.
FIRST WEEK
Fly is very dutiful mum and takes very good care of hur pups, which is 7/24 duty - nursing, cleaning, walking out and sleeping. To give her energy for all of that, she is getting three times more food than normally, but you can not see it on her :D Also boys are eating very well and have doubled of their birth weight. Their eyes and ears are still closed, but by the end of the week pigment started to appear on their noses and they are attempting their first steps.
SECOND WEEK
During this week boys have opened their eyes and they can see the world now. Their toddling looks a lot more like walking these days. Also their communication is much more fun. Besides clicking their tongue we can also hear growling. Boys were also dewormed and their nails were cut.
THIRD WEEK
Fly and ger pups were moved from bedroom to kitchen. From time to time she is taking time off, so they are getting used to be without their mum for a while. Their interaction is changing - they are licking and biting each other and discover their whelping box. We can also hear real growling and the game is on!
FORTH WEEK
In the beginning of the week, we moved boys to a bigger whelping box. Their exploring jurney started immediately and they are enjoying their new space. The time during which they are awake is longer and we have a great fun with them. They are growling, barking, biting and playing. For the very first time they got meat and liked it very much. And because another 14 days of their life has passed, they were again dewormed and their nails got cut as well.
FIFTH WEEK
Boys have grown up. Their weight is between 1120gr to 1320gr. Their favourite game is "hunt" and "check how it tastes". The whelping box is not big enough for them and they want more. Now they are going in the garden several times a day. They always enjoy each new space they get and start to explore it. Slowly Fly is stopping to nurse them and they are getting meat, cottage cheese and dry food.
SIXTH WEEK
Socialisation is upon us. Boys are not only at home but also in the garden if there is a nice weather. They are meeting other members of our pack. Uncle Hodor is great attraction and it is huge fun to pull his dreadlocks. Uncle Raf is tireless. He can paly with them until they fall asleep and uncle Bearkly teaches them that not each dog wants to play with them :D Our boys also met hens and ducks - and they liked them :D We also teach them to ride in a car and they have many lovely visits. Boys were dewormed for the third time.
SEVENTH WEEK
The boys are everywhere, joining all our activities indoors and outdoors. Fly is playing with them and also the rest of the pack and they teach them rules of the household ;) Boys are not only learning how to play but also their basics hygiene. They spend sunny days in the garden with our pack or in our garden with chickens.
EIGHTH WEEK
Our time with puppies is shortening so to enjoy the last remaining days, we took them to our cottage. They loved that and enjoyed the huge new space. They were helping us to collect potatoes and herbs and stole a few plums :D Auntie Lenka visited us.
NINETH WEEK
Our last days together, before they leave to their new homes. I hope we did not forget anything and they have all the things they will need with their new owners. We spend our last days together with games and visits. ;)
BOYS ARE IN THEIR NEW HOMES
Aegon BCH „Ego“– lives in Czech Republic, where he will be a hunting dog together with his new buddy Fredy.
Arctic BCH „Sonny“ – lives in Czech Republic, where he is kept as family pet.
Arley BCH „Pommi“ – lives in Finland in kennel Tammenkolon, where he will hunt and be shown.
